Meet Amanda: the world's first AI biller for denials and collections

by Michal Miernowski

Today, we're thrilled to officially unveil Amanda—our first multi-modal AI coworker, specifically built to tackle the costly and increasing burden of denials and collections.

Healthcare providers today face huge challenges: growing insurance denial rates, chronic understaffing, and outdated clearinghouses. These issues aren't just administrative headaches—they’re costing billions of dollars, forcing clinics to cut back services or even shut down entirely.

At Amperos, we believe it’s time to level the playing field–and that’s why we built Amanda.

How Amanda Works

Amanda autonomously handles two of the most time-consuming tasks in denial management and collections:

  • Navigating insurance portals: Amanda seamlessly accesses insurance web portals, gathering crucial information for claims and payment information
  • Calling insurers: Amanda fully automates calls to insurers for unpaid or denied claims, effortlessly summarizing claim status and next steps for a human biller review.

Amanda doesn’t just automate work; she also reasons across modalities. She uses the information gathered in one place—like checking an insurance portal—to inform actions in another—like when placing a call to insurance. That level of cross-context reasoning is a first in RCM AI.

Amanda is trained by experienced human billers, meaning she’s ready to start working for customers within days–no implementation or scripts needed. Since our beta launch last summer, Amanda has already:

  • Automated 75,000+ calls
  • Helped recover $120 million in annual revenue
  • Supported 400+ clinical locations

Real Results, Real Impact

Clinics that partner with Amanda see immediate and significant benefits:

  • 2–5x productivity increases on denials and unpaid claims
  • Up to 80% lower collection costs
  • Up to 4% revenue lift from more claims getting paid

“We weren't even touching 27% of our claims before hiring Amanda, and the team was severely understaffed. Now with Amanda, our team has been able to address understaffing by helping us work through more unpaid claims, faster," said Janna Mullaney, Chief Operating Officer at EyeCare Service Partners. “Amperos has allowed our team to spend more time on the most valuable work, and less time doing the mundane tasks associated with collecting claims."

What’s Next

We're thrilled to announce that we closed a $4.2M seed funding led by Uncork Capital, with participation from Neo, Nebular, and strategic angels from OpenAI, Twilio, and Stripe.

We're excited to use these new resources to expand Amanda’s capabilities and our suite of AI coworkers. Our vision is simple yet transformative: Make getting paid effortless for providers, freeing teams to focus on serving patients and growing clinics.
